Sweat dripped down my neck and my thoughts began to blur after only two minutes in the heat.
That's how sizzling hot it is in much of Southern Ontario right now. A “heat dome” they say — and that’s certainly how it feels. 🔥
This past weekend, my partner and I visited friends “up north” and, though it was a privileged situation, it was still anxiety provoking and hot AF.
As an HSP who lives with anxiety as well as myriad digestive issues, I always worry about these types of situations…
Will I be overestimated?
Will I get enough alone time?
Will I be able to sleep?
Will I get a stomach ache?
Will I feel left out?
Fortunately, with luck and careful planning & execution, I was perfectly fine and we had a good time eating, boating, and swimming. 🏊♂️ I was proud of myself and happy that I was able to enjoy the weekend.
Now, I will follow my own advice per my summer of mini resistances and cut myself off here. 👌 Before you go, I encourage you to check out these amazing Substackers:

Ever since menopause I have very little tolerance for extreme heat and get nauseous when I try to do too much on hot days. Not fun. Most people don't get it (my husband LOVES hot weather) so it's on me to set limits and say "no" when I think it's going to be too much. Such is life.
I was at an outdoor wedding this past weekend and had the exact same concerns. Lots of sunscreen, bug spray, and staying hydrated. We had a great time with the added bonus of gluten free pizza!
