Lisa, Thanks for sharing your photos from Mexico and your artwork! I loved both. I appreciate your wise advice for HSPs. Yesterday, I put my earplugs in at the grocery store, and it made a world of difference. Sometimes, I neglect to do this because it's an extra step, but this is something I really need!
I feel inspired reading all this! Thanks for sharing your lovely photos from Mexico. Looks like a restorative vacation.
All of this resonates with me. This also reminds me about my doctor telling me, "you don't have to be an emotional toilet for people." It's good to establish our boundaries, values and what we need.
Thank you Lisa. Could you share something about not committing to many things at the same time and how to balance the agenda? Is that also a challenge for you?
Thanks so much for your interest, Thianne. 🤲Hmmm… let’s see. The ability to say “no” or even, “Now, I can’t do X, but how about Y instead?” has been honed over many years. With a challenging full-time job, side gig here on Substack, two young adult children, and other responsibilities, I really don’t have a choice. 🙃
Every day, it’s a balance of socializing with the right people at the right time and then blocking off time to recouperate. This past weekend, I literally did nothing - no plans, very little cooking and cleaning, only one short walk outside. A lot of lounging in PJs, watching Netflix, reading, and doomscrolling helped get my nervous system and body back on track. It doesn’t always work but I’m much better at anticipating and planning now. 👏
Not dramatic at all. The 'always have an out' one is hard-won wisdom. Chronic pain taught me exit strategies I never planned to learn; now I plan them deliberately.
Headphones and a hotel room of one's own are underrated acts of self-preservation!
Nice picture! Calming photos. And 4 great reminders for a balanced HSP life. I was also able to get back to some of my creative projects this week in writing and dance. It helps to keep the noise of the world at bay.
Thank you for sharing my article, @Miguel Clark Mallet 🙏
You're very welcome

Good for you!
Paying more to get my own room is exactly the kind of thing I do. 😆 High five! I have a limited social battery too.
Love how you captured the sky and the trees in that landscape painting.
Glad you enjoy the landscape painting. It's actually from a photo I took at our last work retreat.
Those are good lessons Lisa. I love your art btw. It feels happy and makes me appreciate the natural world.
Your comment brings me great joy, Judy. 🫂

Hope that answers your question.

Thank you, dear @Carol Oyanagi. I'm happy to learn you've had time to engage in your own creativity as well. 💃
