Why Highly Sensitive People Make Good Writers
Use Your HSP "Superpowers" to Create More Success
Greetings.
Around a year ago, my original Substack channel, Your Digital Village, sprang up here. And, when I say “sprang up”, I mean it: writers and creators (like actors, singers, and painters) have to create — there’s a compelling urge to bring things to life.
Right now, I happily work full-time as the communications director for a large non-profit organization and am the proud parent of two teenagers. However, like so many people, I have a few side gigs as well - and this is one of them.
Though I currently work for an employer, I still take on some freelancing in my free time. And, on and off, for 20-odd years, I supported myself (and my family) as a self-employed freelance writer.
If you’re interested in my background, I’ve written for:
Local, regional, national and international web sites, blogs, newsletters, and magazines
Health care orgs including pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and health care centers
Ad agencies creating ads, social media, press releases, and white papers
Fundraising organizations
Most successful freelance writers have certain things in common — including, importantly, making money! However, as a Highly Sensitive Person and a parent, I feel that my approach veers from the norm.
I plan to share the tactics that led to my increasing success and continued personal gratification (as well as the things that aren’t so great). So, if you’re a wannabe (or already successful) freelancer, feel free to join me on this journey.
Yours in Highly Sensitive Success,
Lisa
